Abstract

In this article, we study the wave propagation in a porous piezoelectric layer which is in contact with fluid on both sides. The reflection and transmission from porous piezoelectric layer immersed in fluid is studied analytically, using transfer matrix technique. The layer is assumed to be made of porous piezoelectric material having 6mm symmetry. An elastic wave is assumed to be incident on the layer which results into reflected wave in upper fluid half space and transmitted wave in lower fluid half space. The analytical expressions of the reflection and transmission coefficients are obtained. The effects of angle of incidence, frequency, porosity, material properties, and thickness of layer on the reflection and transmission coefficients are observed numerically for a particular model.
