Three Chapters of Śaiva Material Added to the Earliest Known Recension of the Skandapurāṇa

An analysis of three chapters that figure only in the R/A recension of the original Skandapurāṇa. All of them deal with various aspects of śaivism: mythology, asceticism and religious festivities. Although the R/A recension represents a later, enlarged version of the text, it seems to include material, such as the chapters analyzed here, which probably come from a relatively early period, before the addition itself took place. This, however, remains a tentative conclusion.
