A New Specimen Geometry for Compression Hopkinson Bars
Résumé
This work is concerned with experimental characterization of materials with compression Hopkinson bars. First we point out the importance of friction, elastic punching and parasitic bending on the results of static compression tests with standard cylindrical specimens. Thus, we propose a new geometry for the sample, and then we conduct numerical simulations of the new steel sample (35NDC16) under static loading to identify the constant parameters of its constitutive elastoplastic law. The early experiments with these specimens have been carried out and then analysed.
