Two-dimensional grid turbulence in a thin liquid film

We present the first observation of grid-generated two-dimensional turbulence in a thin fluid film. The evolution of the vortex sizes, the processes of vortex merging and the general aspect of the velocity field correspond qualitatively to theoretical predictions and to recent numerical simulations.
