A STUDY OF DYNAMIC NEAR-CRACK-TIP FRACTURE PARAMETERS BY DIGITAL IMAGE ANALYSIS

The feasibility of quantifying fracture parameters for cracked body problems under impact loading through the use of high speed photographic techniques coupled with computer based digital image processing methods is discussed. The procedure for gathering data and the method of analysis which is applied to the experimentally determined displacement field in the crack tip region is presented.
