MEASUREMENT OF THE DISPERSION CURVES OF SURFACE VIBRATIONS ON Ni (100) AND Ni (100) C (2x2) O BY ELECTRON ENERGY LOSS SPECTROSCOPY
Résumé
The dispersion curves of several surface vibrations have been measured throughout the two-dimensional Brillouin zone in the direction (110) on Ni (100) and Ni (100) C (2x2) O. The Rayleigh phonon has been observed on both systems. Besides a resonance and two O-vibrations associated with motions perpendicular and parallel to the surface have been observed on Ni (100) C (2x2) O. Those results are discussed within the framework of a simple model of the lattice dynamics, which yields information upon surface relaxation and the Ni-O distance.
