AN EXPERIMENTAL TEST OF THE RIGID-MUFFIN-TIN APPROXIMATION USED IN THE THEORY OF ELECTRON-PHONON INTERACTION
Résumé
The validity of the rigid-muffin-tin approximation is discussed on the basis of measurements of the response of the Fermi surface of palladium to homogeneous volume conserving strains. The expérimental strain derivatives are found to be consistently 30 % smaller than theorétical values obtained from a KKR band structure calculations. Implications of this resuit are discussed for the electron-phonon λ and the superconducting TC.
