EXCITON-DEFECT INTERACTION IN THE ALKALI HALIDES
Résumé
Exciton-defect interaction in KI between 4 K and 77 K is measured through the study of the intrinsic luminescence of irradiated crystals excited by both UV and medium energy (60 keV) electron irradiation. The latter is also used to create the defects. We find that the interaction range increases below 40 K only for excitons created by UV absorption in the first exciton peak. This result is interpreted by the athermal diffusion of the non relaxed exciton at very low temperature.
