DISLOCATION DIPOLES AND DISLOCATION LOOPS

Basic theoretical ideas on the properties of two special dislocation configurations, dislocation dipoles and prismatic dislocation loops, are presented. Some of the author's recent results, based mostly on the application of the model of elastic continuum on these crystalline defects, are also given. The influence of dipoles and loops on different mechanical properties is discussed.
