Acoustic propagation in an epoxy resin at very low temperatures
Résumé
Attenuation and velocity changes of ultrasonic waves of frequencies up to 2.14 GHz have been measured in an epoxy resin in the temperature range 0.1 to 80 K. At the lowest temperatures (T ≲ 0.8 K) the attenuation varies as the cube of the temperature and is frequency independent, as predicted by the standard TLS theory. All of our results are discussed in the framework of this theory.
