Low temperature optical study of manganous chloride
Résumé
The low temperature absorption spectrum of MnCl2 is reported. A calculation of the expected magnetic circular dichroism and its correlation with magnetization is performed for the optical transition 6A 1g(6S) → 4A1g(4G), 4Eg(4G) at 23 557 cm-1. The experimental results of MCD and CD in zero field are reported and the magnetic phase diagram is plotted. A linear dichroism is also observed in the two ordered phases. The magnetic order is discussed in view of these new data.
