A Response: The Knowledge of Good and Bad

Résumé

This article looks back over Spinoza's philosophical corpus and shows how Nadler's reading better suits the big picture of the evolution of Spinoza's thought. He also looks to show how the French literature similar interpretations have been defended, and this says about the relation between American and French Spinoza scholarship. Lastly, he raises an important issue for measuring the meaningfulness for that which is bad and evil in Spinoza's philosophy, namely, wether, for Spinoza, it is knowable to the same degree as that which is good.
