Local community and use of Ceiba petandra in Banwa province in Burkina Faso
Communautés locales et utilisation de Ceiba petandra dans la province des Banwa au Burkina Faso
Résumé
Regardless of the continent, man has a relationship with plants, but each community ritualizes its relationship with its environment according to various factors. This relationship is often distinct from the practices of other neighboring communities and influenced by the language of communication. This research aims to analyze the relationship between sociolinguistic communities of the Banwa province in the western part of Burkina Faso, and the species Ceiba pentandra (L.) Gaertn. The fieldwork based on an ethnobotanical survey involved 267 people chosen at random and divided into three age groups comprising men and women, most of whom are illiterate. It essentially emerges from the study that the values of the indices of diversity and equitability of knowledge are low according to gender, and according to age. These values indicate an unequal distribution of knowledge of the species between respondents. In addition, the study revealed 6 forms of uses of the products of the species and among the different parts of the species, the leaves are more in demand than the bark and the fruit.
Quel qu’en soit le continent l’homme entretient des rapports avec les plantes, mais chaque communauté ritualise sa relation avec son environnement en fonction de facteurs divers. Cette relation est souvent distincte des pratiques des autres communautés voisine et influencée par la langue de communication. La présente recherche vise alors à analyser la relation qui existe entre des communautés sociolinguistiques de la province des Banwa dans la partie ouest du Burkina Faso, et l’espèce Ceiba pentandra (L.) Gaertn. Les travaux de terrain basés sur une enquête de type ethnobotanique a concerné 267 personnes choisies de manière aléatoire et réparties suivant trois classes d’âges comportant des hommes et des femmes, dont la plupart est analphabète. Il ressort essentiellement de l’étude que les valeurs des indices de diversité et d’équitabilité de connaissances sont faibles en fonction du genre, et en fonction de l’âge. Ces valeurs indiquent une répartition inégale des connaissances de l’espèce entre les enquêtés. En outre, l’étude a révélé 6 formes d’utilisations des produits de l’espèce et parmi les différentes parties de l'espèce, les feuilles sont plus sollicitées que l’écorce et le fruit.
