The underwater soundscape of fear: behavioural responses of cetaceans to naval sonar and playback of predatory killer whale sounds

Résumé

The risk-disturbance hypothesis proposes that anthropogenic sounds may be perceived by animals as a threat similar to predator presence, driving individuals to trade fitness-enhancing behaviours such as foraging for perceived safety.
