Experts in the realm of storytelling: how Disneyland tells its art
Des experts au royaume du storytelling : Disneyland raconte son art
Résumé
The paper combines Roger Odin’s semio-pragmatic approach with studies interested in the links between popular culture and brands’ authority issues, in order to analyse how storytelling can make a representation of itself. In two webseries posted on Youtube, Disneyland Paris borrows from two filmed visit formats, the documentary and the vlog, in which storytelling is set up as a valuable skill. By considering storytelling not only as a practice but also a communication apparatus, the objective of the article is to define the role of these formats in the assertion of Disneyland Paris’ institutional competence to produce storytelling.
L’article conjugue l’approche sémio-pragmatique de Roger Odin et les travaux attentifs à la culture populaire et aux enjeux d’autorité de marque qui s’y jouent afin d’observer la manière dont le storytelling peut lui-même se représenter. Dans deux webséries publiées sur Youtube, Disneyland Paris emprunte à deux formats de visite filmée, le documentaire et le vlog, dans lesquels le storytelling s’érige en compétence valorisable. En considérant le storytelling comme un dispositif et pas seulement une pratique, l’objectif de l’article est de définir le rôle de ces formats choisis dans l’affirmation par Disneyland Paris d’une compétence institutionnelle à produire du storytelling.
