Analyser la disparition de la gratuité dans les MOOC au prisme des buts d'accomplissement

Abstract : At their peak, each year MOOCs would deliver free statements of accomplishment by the hundreds of thousands. Such free certificates have almost completely disappeared. Based on the achievement goal theory, we try to assess the consequences of such an evolution through qualitative interviews. Some learners show little interest for those certificates, notably because of their little value on the job market. Nevertheless, mastery goals are not incompatible with the interest for the certificate. We here build a typology of arguments used by learners to legitimize their interest, or on the contrary their lack of interest for the free statements of accomplishment that are delivered in MOOCs.
