Résumé
In this article, I hypothesize that the biography and markers of Manfred Mohr's artistic activity could constitute a dynamic panorama and cartography that could objectively represent the activity of Computer Art as an artistic practice and genre.
It is a question of reconstructing what has been the rhythm and frequency of the exhibitions presenting in France works of historical Computer Art, the one drawn in particular by the first pioneer artists such as Manfred Mohr or Véra Molnar in France. Their artistic research echoes studies and experiments on forms of perception, particularly those of experimental aesthetics and information theory.
Based on this intuition of a deficit in the visibility of Computer Art in cultural institutions, I decided to work initially on the establishment of a kind of historical cartography of the exhibition sites, trying to thwart the linear approach of chronology.
Dans cet article, je fais l’hypothèse que la biographie et les marqueurs de l’activité artistique de Manfred Mohr pourraient constituer un panorama et une cartographie dynamique susceptibles de représenter objectivement l’activité du Computer Art comme pratique et genre artistique.
Il s’agit de reconstituer ce qui a été le rythme et la fréquence des expositions présentant en France des œuvres du Computer Art historique, celui dessiné notamment par les premiers artistes pionniers que sont en France Manfred Mohr ou Véra Molnar. Leurs recherches artistiques font échos aux études et expérimentations sur les formes de la perception notamment celles de l’esthétique expérimentale et la théorie de l’information.
En me fondant sur cette intuition d’un déficit de visibilité du Computer Art dans les institutions culturelles, j’ai décidé de travailler dans un premier temps à l’établissement d’une sorte de cartographie historique des lieux expositions en tentant de déjouer l’approche linéaire de la chronologie.
