Peter Fireman is well known to Marx's scholars because he proposed a solution to the problem of transforming labor values into production prices which Engels acknowledged to be very close to that of Marx himself. This contribution to the Marxian economics has remained isolated in a particularly active life. He had emigrated to the United States to a Jewish commune, then returned to Europe, studied chemistry in Switzerland, taught chemistry in the United States, took patents, created companies, and was a patron of American progressives. He published books on psychology and philosophy. In his last book devoted to Platon, he compared Marx's and Platon's ideas of justice

Peter Fireman est bien connu des spécialistes de Marx car il a proposé une solution du problème de la transformation des valeurs en prix de production dont Engels a reconnu qu'elle était très proche de celle de Marx lui même. Cette contribution à l'économie marxienne est restée isolée dans une vie particulièrement active. PF avait émigré aux Etats Unis dans une commune juive, puis il était revenu en Europe, pour étudier la chimie en Suisse, il l'enseigna aux Etats Unis, prit des brevets, créa des entreprises, fut un mécène des progressistes américains. Il publia des livres de psychologie et de philosophie. Son dernier livre est consacré à Platon. Il y compare les idées de Marx et de Platon sur la justice
