"Charlotte Delbo et les tombeaux d'Antigone"
Résumé
The first half of the 20th century, marked by the two world wars, sees in France the return of the myth. The originality of Charlotte Delbo’s work, in the ‘80s, lies in her mixing of Antigone’s myth, (whose character is) intrinsically linked to political resistance, with the Shoah and the extermination of citizens by dictatorship. Beyond the politics, she maintains the ethical dimension of immemorial laws in ancient myths/mythology. Facing the refusal and the political overshadowing that create “essential spectres”, her writing is in the piety of “essential sorrow”, which is a remembrance of the “morts mal morts”.
La première moitié du XXe siècle, marquée par les deux guerres mondiales, voit en France un retour du mythe. La figure d’Antigone est alors associée à la résistance. L’originalité de l’œuvre de Charlotte Delbo, dans les années 1980, est d’articuler le mythe d’Antigone à la Shoah et à l’extermination de certaines populations civiles par les dictatures. Au-delà de la posture politique, elle réaffirme ainsi la dimension éthique des lois immémoriales présentes dans le mythe antique. Face au déni et à l’occultation politique qui génèrent des « spectres essentiels », son écriture s’inscrit dans la piété du « deuil essentiel » qui se veut mémoire responsable des « morts mal morts ».
