Abstract : Skyguide, the Swiss air navigation service provider, is responsible for the operation of its CNS
infrastructure in compliance with international and national regulations. Therefore it is also tasked to
assess the electromagnetic impact of planned buildings or temporary obstacles on its systems. In the
case of the VOR (Very High Frequency Omni Directional Range) this requires a rigorous
electromagnetic modelling of the scattering behavior of the obstacles in order to model the impacts
with sufficient precision. Therefore a detailed 3D MoM simulation model of a conventional VOR
(CVOR) has been established. It has been validated by comparing simulation and measurements of
the impact of nearby obstacles with UAV measurements. Both the simulation approach and the
validation with measurements will be presented. In a next step the model will be applied to the
simulation of the impact of wind turbines.
