Pericle Patocchi interprete e traduttore di Salvatore Quasimodo
Résumé
In 1963, the Swiss poet Pericle Patocchi published an anthology of the Italian Nobel Prize Salvatore Quasimodo’s poems in French. He also wrote a brief introduction to it, where he proposed a reflection on the act of translating Quasimodo’s hermetic poetry, taking as a starting point the freedom of choice of the poet/translator. These considerations, together with his essay on Clément Marot as Petrarca’s translator (1953) and Quasimodo’s writings on classics and modern translations, will be the basis to the definition of Patocchi’s poetics on translation.
