Composition fine du lait en lien avec le type de vaches laitières et leur conduite alimentaire à l’échelle de la lactation

Abstract : A cow's genetic background and dietary regime impact milk production, including the fine-scale composition of milk. In the study "Which cow for which system?", the effects of two genetic backgrounds and two dietary regimes were explored. A total of 290 milk samples from Normande or Holstein cows were analysed. The results showed that cow breed, dietary regime, lactation stage, and parity had an effect on milk volume and composition (i.e., fat, protein, fatty acid, casein, and calcium content). Collected over a long period of time (5 years), these new findings will help inform breeding choices and livestock farming practices.
