Tabagisme et états métamotivationnels chez des adolescents lycéens

Abstract : Research among ex-smokers and teenagers smokers show the existence of a relation between tobacco addiction and some metamotivational states – MS – (paratelic, opposition, mastery, sympathy) and insist on the influences of these metamotivational states. These theoretical considerations drove us to formulate and test the following hypotheses: – A relation exists between MS and tobacco addiction of the teenagers; – A meaningful effect of some MS exists (paratelic, opposition, sympathy) on tobacco addiction of the teenagers. The studied population is composed of 31 teenagers high school students smokers and of 31 high school students non-smokers of 15-17 years old. The instruments used are: – the Fagerström test (physiological dependence test to nicotine); – the psychological and behavioral dependence test to tobacco; – the Apter Metamotivational Styles Profile. The results show that it exists: – a relation between the intensity (strong or middle) of some MS (paratelic, opposition, sympathy) and the intensity (strong or middle) of the psychological and behavioral dependence test to tobacco; – a relation between the intensity (strong or middle) of some MS (telic, conformist, mastery) and the fact to be a non-smoker; – a meaningful effect of some MS (paratelic, opposition, sympathy) on the high school students’ tobacco addiction. So, for teenagers, the paratelic state articulates to the sensory functions, the opposition state to the desobeying functions and the sympathy state to the social functions of the tobacco addiction.
