Horizon and discontinuity tracking using active contours

Résumé

This paper presents a new approach of automatic extraction of seismic horizons and discontinuity in 2-D seismic images. This approach is based on active contours applied to amplitudes of seismic data combined with constraints using seismic attributes. This new approach uses an algorithm that detects strong seismic reflectors before dealing with discontinuities. This approach is applied to real data. It presents a new method that helps for automated structural interpretation.
