Intérêt de l’analyse de résidus de toilettes sèches collectés lors d’un festival de musique électronique pour le suivi de consommation de drogues récréatives

Abstract : Summary Objective Analyses of substances seized by police or customs reveal dozens of different recreational drugs on the French market each year. It is difficult to assess the actual consumption of these substances, as only a few are found on analysis of biological samples. The objective of the present study was to assess the contribution of analyzing dry-toilet samples taken at a rave party as a means of monitoring recreational substances consumption. Method Eleven dry-toilet residue samples were analyzed. After liquid-phase extraction and derivatization (acetylation), GC-MS General Unknown Screening and targeted GC-MS/MS screening for 21 molecules were performed. Results Eighteen substances including medical drugs and metabolites were identified. The highest concentration was for 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), followed by amphetamine, benzoylecgonine and ketamine. The only designer drug found at this event was 1-(3-chlorophenyl)-piperazine (mCPP). Discussion Although only one designer drug was detected, due perhaps to limitations in analytic technique, specificities of consumption at the particular event or rapid metabolism of certain molecules, dry-toilet residue analysis is a useful means of monitoring recreational substances consumption.
