Les récits imagés autour du Grenoble Street Art Fest : le street art, outil d'exploration et de valorisation territoriales?

Abstract : In 2014, Green Party member Éric Piolle won Grenoble local election. He agrees to support the Grenoble Street Art Fest’ (GSAF), which enriched the city with a new label, somehow both «trendy» and «popular», attractive and accessible to all. Since 2015, walls have been adorned with unpublished fiction images aiming at rehabilitating a city which struggled to bring tourists to the inner city, and placing art at the heart of people’s lives. Each participant to the GSAF agreed to promote territorial valorisation and social cohesion and to fight against spatial fragmentation through this art. There was definitively some enthusiastic feedback from statutory stakeholders and people who attended festival events. However, this should not dissimulate more contrasted views which could be gathered during informal discussions with graffiti artists who have an alternative perception of the GSAF. This festival allows to question the role of "in" and "off" street images in the construction of representations of Grenoble by its inhabitants and the political and cultural institutions.
