Le découpage : perspectives nouvelles pour l'examen psychologique de l'enfant

Abstract : This article intends to show that studying the act of cutting enables us to carry out an accurate analysis of manual competence of pre-school children. Having accurately observed six children who -where asked to eut out geometric forms, a analytical grid was compiled. Il allows us to build up a description of the gesture, taking into account the picking up of the scissors, tonus, posture, completion and organisation of the task. Our analytical grid enables us to differentiate between various levels of expertise using criterion other than those used by Stambak ( 1965), highlighting the degree of integration of hand to eye coordina­tion.
