The solution we propose is that, in front of the ban, the human makes a metaphor. Art and metaphor are one and the same thing: the human way to deal with the ban that allows us, the kind of, pluck us out of animal conditions and thus to rise in human dignity. The metaphor shows us things without ever telling: his deictic movement is not in the sensory world, but in the intelligible world of language that makes man. It is a preservation of the face that allows to treat the unspeakable.
Le célèbre poème « voyelles » de RIMBAUD et la métaphore ont la même réputation : ils font couler beaucoup d'encre par difficulté d'assignation de sens. Pour le premier, les analystes font intervenir la biographie de l'auteur et justifient le poème par l'acquisition des lettres de la première enfance ; pour la seconde, ils parlent d'ornement dont le but est de faire pittoresque. La solution que nous proposons est que, devant l'interdit, l'humain métaphorise. Art et métaphore sont donc une seule et même chose : la manière humaine de traiter l'interdit qui nous permet, de la sorte, de nous arracher des conditions animales et ainsi de s'élever dans la dignité humaine. La métaphore nous montre les choses sans jamais le dire : son mouvement déictique n'est pas dans le monde sensitif, mais dans le monde intelligible du langage qui fait homme. Elle est une préservation de la face qui permet de traiter l'innommable. .
