Habiter l’espace urbain : les jardins collectifs comme moteur d’un autre mode de vie ?

Abstract : After a neoliberal development of cities (Peck and Tickel, 2002), a change in urban planning emerging for 20 years. With the rising of topics like well-being, well ness and urban attractiveness, nature is coming back in the city. Residents and public actors are interested in nature, for the landscape and ecological reasons. Based on the city of Lyon, our research shed light on different forms of collective gardening, set up by residents, in the heart of cities, on non-used space : we focus particularly on three forms of collective gardening. These citizen initiatives have social and economic impact on their district. We analyse in this article impacts of these hybrid space, between public and private sphere, while showing the way that these residents appropriate urban space and built a « sustainable living ».
