Interpréter la représentation ? Les enjeux d'un décentrement idéologique

Abstract : Despite a vast production of high quality studies, most notably those led by Henri Boyer, on the representations linked to the French language, they continue to hold an elusive aspect. Indeed, since interviews, questionnaires and Studies reveal a list of cases taking into account representations attributed to French language, the problem of the analysis of results is posed. One is tempted to attribute the results of such representations to the virtues of the French-speaking linguistic and cultural political action, justifying in this way the efficiency of language diffusion in a centralized, homogeneous and transcendental form. Thus it seems inevitable to ask oneself if linguistic policies have any real effect on individuals, and if so, in what manner do they give meaning to learning and teaching a language, for the learners as well as for the teachers, whether the language concerned is a mother tongue or not. Thanks to a contrasting analysis of the French Alliance in Buenos Aires we will try to see these representations as the result of the role and type of integration that these phenomena produce when the departing culture meets the culture of the arrival.
