In the first part of this article, theoretical part, we focus on the concept of change as envisaged by sociolinguistics and the characteristics of electronic discourse and principles. We discuss also briefly some of the spelling and Malagasy grammar. The second part is based on a corpus of conversations in Malagasy, collected on a social network. Noting that they are profoundly different from texts traditionally presented to learners of Malagasy, we describe the possible variations that can be addressed in these texts in relation to the established standard and we draw some particularities. In the light of this analysis, we conclude on barriers but especially on the richness of horizons that the use of the Internet could open for the teaching of Malagasy language and culture to French learners.

Dans la première partie de cet article, partie théorique, nous nous intéressons à la notion de variation telle qu’elle est envisagée par les sociolinguistes ainsi qu’aux caractéristiques du discours électronique et nous exposerons sommairement quelques principes de l’orthographe et de la morphologie malgaches. La deuxième partie prendra pour base un corpus de conversations en malgache, recueilli sur un réseau social. Profondément différents des textes présentés traditionnellement aux apprenants du malgache, ils nous permettront de décrire les éventuelles variations que l’on peut relever dans ces textes par rapport à la norme établie puis de dégager quelques-unes de leurs particularités. À la lumière de cette analyse, nous conclurons sur la richesse des perspectives que l’utilisation de l’Internet pourrait ouvrir dans le cadre de l’enseignement de la langue et de la culture malgaches pour un public français.
