Abstract : In this book, the author questions the disqualification of the paraphrase in the academic approach of the literature. In fact, the discourse of disqualification of the paraphrase doesn't have any coherence, in spite of perpetual reiteration of a definition of the paraphrase as the repetition of the text. What is named by this word is something without precise outlines and only serves to disqualify globally a way of speaking, with fluctuating criteria according to the times and places. If we attempt to define objectively the paraphrase, we can only observe his historic legitimacy in a rhetoric culture but also its discursive necessity in any literary commentary. It is what allows, in the didactic prospect of the author, a praise of the paraphrase.
