In-Process Tool Wear Monitoring in Internal Broaching

Abstract : In this work, an "in process" tool wear prediction system for broaching process is presented based on a cutting force analysis. The aim is to link the changes in the measured force with the tool wear. Once the broaching cycles have been performed, different strategies have been analyzed including the evolution of the maximum peak force and the evolution in the used broaching energy per section. Finally, the results of the analysis and the main conclusions are presented.
