Closure to 'Modeling Seismic Wave Propagation and Amplification in 1D/2D/3D Linear and Nonlinear Unbounded Media' by J. F. Semblat

Jean François Semblat

Résumé

The author thanks the discussers for their interest in the original paper and for their valuable comments. Because the original paper is a review paper dealing with various numerical methods, it was not easy to gather and synthesize the numerous results related to the modeling of seismic problems through such methods as FEM, discrete galerkin method (DGM), finite-difference method, and boundary element method (BEM), among others. More detailed results on numerical dispersion for the FEM and spectral element method, absorbing layer methods (e.g., perfectly matched layer), or boundary element approaches are discussed in Semblat and Pecker (2009).
