Le Screening BAT : un outil d'évaluation rapide disponible en 8 langues et adaptable à toutes les langues du BAT

Résumé

Many bilinguals are in reality multilinguals: it is nowadays more and more common to encounter aphasic patients using three or four languages in daily life for communication with their environment. Assessment of each of their languages remains essential for the establishment of the best rehabilitation strategies. However, assessment of two, three or more language is not only difficult to realize but also exhausting for the patients. We propose an assessment tool developed with the idea to allow us an efficient assessment of multilingual patients which is not too heavy and might be used with patients who are in the acute phase of aphasia: the Screening BAT. This shortened version of the Bilingual Aphasia Test (BAT) is based on a selection of tests and stimuli of the BAT in eight languages (French, Spanish, Portuguese, English, German, Italian, Russian, and Arabic) that has been standardised, for the French version, with 65 healthy bilingual subjects and three aphasic multilingual patients with the help of interpreters.
