Quasi-static failure properties of the human gastrocolic ligament
Résumé
Road accidents often lead to severe up to lethal abdominal injuries that include haemorrhage of organs and of their attachment system. From a biomechanical point of view, a good understanding and prediction of abdominal injuries requires to investigate the failure properties of the attachment system between the stomach and the transverse colon. In this study, failure properties for human GCL are obtained from uniaxial tensile tests, and a hyperelastic behaviour is founded. These results can further be integrated to complete the numerical model of the abdominal region, which can be used for impact biomechanics.
