Optimal inspection and maintenance strategies for bridge network using supply and demand approach

This paper presents a mathematical model to determine a network-level bridge management system. A supply and demand approach is combined with a probability-based formulation of the inspection and maintenance activities to determine the optimal maintenance planning for each bridge within the network. Reliability and serviceability aspects are taken into account to determine such optimal strategies. This methodology is illustrated with the example of a part of the French national network in which the optimal maintenance planning is found for the different bridges located on this network.
