At each stage in the breeding programme, a variety has been created. Production by the first generation of seed orchards (clonal seed orchards or seedling seed orchards) started in 1980 and lasted for 20 years. Seeds arising from the second generation (polycross or control pollinated seed orchards) have been commercially available since 1998
