Résumé

This paper reflects the importance of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), especially Terminology Management Systems TMSs, as a key factor for the development of the language industry in Colombia and its economic global projection. Services offered within the scope of the Language Industry are mostly related to TMS, including tools for terminology extraction, knowledge management and communication, throughout the productive chain. The article concludes upon a survey conducted in the three biggest cities of Colombia about the appropriation levels of such tools in this industry and its impact on firm development.
