Must librarianship be recast ? The objective of this article is to reflect on librarianship in its accepted form and on its place in the formation of the role of the librarian in providing access to information and documents. It also examines the form of professional training, initial and continuing, which follows this notion of librarianship.

Faut-il refonder la bibliothéconomie ? Cet article a pour objet de réfléchir, d'abord, à ce qu'est la bibliothéconomie dans son acception actuelle, et à sa place dans l'appréhension du rôle du bibliothécaire dans les modes d'accès à l'information et au document. Il pose également la question de la formation professionnelle, initiale et continue, qui découle de cette notion de bibliothéconomie.
