Building dependable systems with fallible machines
Résumé
This paper gives an overview of some interdisciplinary issues in the design of computer-based systems. Three examples are borrowed from the DIRC project1 in order to highlight the importance of taking into account the human factors in modern computing environments. The focus is on the dialogue between humans and automated machines and the necessity of an interdisciplinary collaboration in order to increase the level of reliability of this dialogue.
