Tilting mirror strips in a linear Fresnel reflector
Résumé
When a linear Fresnel reflector solar concentrator is installed in a site with high lattitude, important losses of optic efficiency will occur due to the low angle of the Sun, especially during the winter season, and especially if the concentrator is installed with north-sough orientation. In this work, we make detailed computations on the method of tilting the rotation angle of the mirror strips, to an angle about half of the lattitude of the site. According to the computation, this method provides the best mirror yield for zones of lattitude between 25 and 45 degrees, compared to other configurations of the linear Fresnel reflector. Technical restrictions and difficulties of this method are also discussed.
