Background: There is increasing concern about the apparently rising incidence and worsening outcome of Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). We have now systematically reviewed the literature about CDI in relation to IBD to evaluate its incidence, risk factors, endoscopic features, treatment and outcome.
