Analytic results for a phase transition in a planar array of chains
Résumé
Analytic results for the free energy and specific heat of a planar array of chains are obtained within "two level approximation". The numerical results of Stoeckly and Scalapino, and several Monte Carlo simulations, are supported by exact formulae, in terms of torus functions. The crossover between 1D and 2D behaviour is discussed.
