All the methods of fault detection and isolation (FDI) are based, either explicitly or implicitly, on the use of redundancy, i.e. relations among the measured variables. Since the founder work of Potter and Suman [22], the problem of generation of redundancy relations has been widely addressed. This paper presents the fundamental results obtained in this area
