Imitation of the Ion Diffusion and Ion Pumping Mechanisms of a Living Cell by Nanoporous Alumina Membrane

Résumé

Cell is the basic unit in a living body that can completely perform the sign of life. Cell membrane is one of the major components of a living cell. Signal exchanging inside a living body is achieved by transporting ions through cell membrane. Diffusion and pumping are two key mechanisms of the ion transportation. The main goal of this research is to fabricate nanoporous membrane to imitate the ion diffusion and pumping mechanisms of a real cell membrane. The porous alumina membrane was used as the artificial cell membrane. Ion diffusion and pumping mechanisms of a real cell were artificially imitated through experiments.
