Raisonnements géométriques d'élèves de cycle 3, duos de situations, rôle de l'enseignant

Abstract : Our research conducted within the framework of the theory of didactic situations has enabled us to define a theoretical object, a "duo of situations", inspired by the "duo of artifacts" of Maschietto and Soury-Lavergne (2013). A duo of situations is a set of two situations, aiming at the acquisition of same set of knowledge, associated with two "values" differing from at least of the same variable of the research situation, and whose implementation in class favours a priori the development of reasoning, or even the enrichment of knowledge related to this knowledge . After having defined a research engineering based on such a duo of situations within the framework of plane geometry in cycle 3, we first of all looked at the reasoning of the pupils and the knowledge circulating during its implementation. We then addressed the role of the teacher and the way in which the reasoning of the pupils can be taken into account during the teaching project by experimenting this duo of situations in a class at the end of primary school (CM) and a class in secondary school (sixième). Thanks to our study, we have identified different facets implemented by one or other teachers at certain moments in the situation. This allows us to approach the complexity of the process raised by Allard between the Process of Transfer and Generalisation and the Process of Contextualisation, Decontextualisation, Recontextualisation (PTG and PCDR). Our research confirmed that constructed engineering produces rich reasoning in students, but also highlighted the need for great skills (before, during, and after the sessions) on the part of teachers to exploit this richness, to choose the "knowledge to be exposed" in relation to geometric knowledge.
