Abstract : An original approach to the main apparent motion estimation problem is presented in this dissertation. This method differs from classical approaches related to correlation or optical flow since hypotheses about relations between apparent motion and the variations of pixels gray level have few effects on the process' robustness. The originality of this work is related to the use of representation techniques of imprecision and uncertainty allowing to minimize the apriorism in the estimation process. The main apparent motion estimation calls for the motion probability density estimation and the search of its main mode. These two phases are performed with an extension of the histogram technique named the rough histogram. These histograms allow to consider defects on the data to accumulate such as imprecision or uncertainty, and also give the opportunity to minimize the influence of the data's parametric space partitioning. The validity of our approach is illustrated with experimentations on synthetic and real images sequences. These sequences allow to test the method's robustness towards classical disruptions in image processing such as brightness variation, parasite motions, or occlusions. This motion estimation method is used in two different fields: image mosaicing and video stabilization. The results achieved allow to illustrate the good behavior of our approach in terms of robustness and precision.
