Annotations et gestion des connaissances en environnement virtuel collaboratif

Abstract : This thesis deals with annotations in virtual environments as a mean to facilitate collaborative product design. We base our work on two approaches: virtual reality for collaborative design and knowledge management.
Our first contribution is the definition of a model for 3D annotations, featuring three components: annotation form, spatialization, and metadata. Key features of this model are specific annotation media, anchor and annotation viewpoint.
In order to deal with the great amount of annotations and the lack of a canonical reading order for 3D objects, we propose the introduction of an ontology to index the annotations.
We used our prototype environment to evaluate the influence of the use of the ontology on 3D annotations reading tasks. Results show benefits of the introduction of the ontology, users finding more easily pertinent information.
