Hyperfine predissociation in the B state of iodine investigated through lifetime measurements of individual hyperfine sublevels
Résumé
Iodine exhibits the phenomenon of hyperfine predissociation, by which the different hyperfine sublevels of the same rovibronic level are given different lifetimes. This has been verified for the first time by the direct lifetime measurement technique. We determined Γrad = (0.314 ± 0.018).10 6 s-1 and the rotational and hyperfine predissociation parameters Cυ = (5.85 ± 0.65) s-½ and aυ = (- 142 ± 5) s-½ for the υ = 43 level of the B0u+ state.
